Despite how it may seem, Disneyland did not intend to feature the President.
Donald Trump
in its anniversary celebrations.
To mark its 70th anniversary, the park
unveiled a new statue
showcasing a tiny rendition of the well-known Sleeping Beauty’s Castle attraction. This also pays homage to Disneyland’s past, with the mini-castle’s towers adorned with outlines meant to symbolize each of the park’s nine zones, like a carousel horse standing for Fantasyland.
One shadowy figure appeared strikingly recognizable, not because it resembled any Disney character. Rather, the pinnacle piece was meant to symbolize the park’s ”
Partners
” statue of Walt Disney holding hands with Mickey Mouse, came out looking more like another famous figure: President Trump.
The addition of the spire toppler swiftly garnered attention from devoted park enthusiasts. Numerous attendees took notice and commented online about how closely this new element resembled the president, especially highlighting its striking hairstyle, a feature not present in either the initial “Partners” sculpture or the actual Walt Disney.
Moreover, whereas the initial sculpture portrays Walt Disney extending his arm to guide Mickey towards the park, the silhouette’s limb is raised in a direct, one-finger salute.
The well-known Disney influencer Matt Desmond kept his 57,000 Instagram followers updated regularly about the circumstances at hand.
initially shared regarding the spire
On May 11, they criticized the design as a “terrible aesthetic decision” and commented, “it seems everyone believes it resembles something from Trump.”
Within days of Desmond pointing out the resemblances, though, the outline had vanished.
subsequent post,
Desmond revealed that when he returned to the park the following day, the sculpture had been surrounded by a temporary barrier, and was conspicuously absent its Trump-like spire topper.
Nevertheless, everything is currently fine with the castle: on May 13, the park opened.

With an updated version of the silhouette, this time without its presidential characteristics.
