The Caribbean-themed Bahama Breeze location at Smith Haven Mall in Lake Grove has shut down for good, signaling the closure of this establishment on Long Island.
The restaurant shut down has been verified on Thursday through its Google listing, which now indicates that the place is “permanently closed.” This comes after numerous reports of Bahama Breeze locations closing their doors across the nation this week. Other news sources from cities like Memphis, Las Vegas, and Naples, Florida, have also covered similar closings of what was once a beloved franchise.
The Bahama Breeze eateries, which belong to the Orlando-based company Darden Restaurants, are famous for their relaxed, tropical ambiance, cuisine inspired by islands, and vibrant cocktail selections.
The Smith Haven Mall site had stood as a constant along the property’s Ring Road for over ten years, providing guests with an ocean-like escape from their everyday suburban experience.
By Thursday, Darden Restaurants, operating over 2,100 eateries such as Olive Garden and Ruth’s Chris Steak House, had yet to release an official announcement about the shutdowns.
The closest remaining Bahama Breeze restaurants are located in New Jersey.
