()- Citigroup has introduced Citi AI, a set of artificial intelligence tools designed for use by its staff in Hong Kong, according to an announcement from the bank on Thursday.

According to a statement, the tools facilitate internal processes such as retrieving information from Citi’s policy library, summarizing documents, and drafting electronic communications, amongst other tasks.

“These efforts align with the Hong Kong Monetary Authority’s dedication to fostering ethical use of AI throughout the banking sector,” stated Aveline San, who serves as the CEO and head of banking for Citi Hong Kong and Macau.

Currently, Citi AI is accessible to approximately 150,000 employees spanning 11 nations including the United States, India, and Singapore.

The business intends to introduce these tools into additional market areas later this year.

Recently, reports indicated that Citi plans to eliminate approximately 200 information technology contractor positions in China. The bank aims to recruit its own employees worldwide for these tasks with the intention of enhancing risk management and data governance.
