Mark Davis, aged 51, of Newport, faced charges for allegedly deceiving a mother who has two children.

Davis, who went by the name India Skinner at the time of her passing.
He allegedly left her with £4,059.27 in expenses after serving as the manager of a GoFundMe campaign that collected thousands of pounds in 2021.
Davis from Fleetwood Close rejects the accusation and plans to go to trial on April 21 next year. Judge Tracey Lloyd-Clarke released him on bail until that date.
The accused was defended by Jac Brown, while Tom Roberts prosecuted during the short proceedings at Cardiff Crown Court.
Ms. Davis, who was also from Newport, passed away at the age of 24 in 2022. She initially had a 10% chance of recurrence when diagnosed with ovarian cancer but tragically saw it return and become terminal.
Her family depicted her as ‘resilient’ and ‘affectionate.’
In an interview with WalesOnline last summer, Ms. Davis revealed that she initially experienced discomfort in her left leg and pelvic area during her pregnancy with her oldest daughter, Harper.
A “hopeless bid to extend her lifespan” managed to raise £6000 for specialized care; however, it proved ineffective as reported back then.
After her passing, a GoFundMe page was established by Mr. Jason Skinner, Ms Davis’s spouse, along with his sibling Samantha.
The message stated: “We are raising funds for my sibling Jason to assist him in organizing the perfect farewell for his wonderful spouse India, who tragically passed away.”
‘Very grateful for your attention to this matter and thanks for your contribution. This makes a significant difference to Jason and his family.’
Mrs. Davis passed away at the Grange Hospital in Cwmbran, with her husband and family by her side.
Samantha Skinner said: ‘Our family is devastated by the loss of India. She was a strong character, and really made her mark in our family.
Jason feels devastated after losing India. She was not only his closest confidante but also his initial romantic interest; however, he remains remarkably resilient for the sake of the girls.
When asked if her experiences altered her perspective on life, Ms. Davis stated before she passed away, “My view of the world has shifted. I can no longer harbor hatred for anybody.”
I once claimed that I couldn’t tolerate people, and I’m sorry for stating that. I would not express such sentiments today or hold those views towards anybody. Life is just too brief to harbor those emotions.
