Financial assistance is provided to workers facing reduced earnings, including those prevented from working or whose employers have been forced to shut down operations.
Federal Emergency Management Minister Kristy McBain stated that the assistance has been provided for four affected local government areas hit by floods.
These include the Kempsey, Port Macquarie, Dungog, and MidCoast Council regions.
The federal government along with the NSW authorities had previously initiated disaster recovery funding measures for 16 additional local government areas.
‘This initiative aims to support individuals affected by providing up to 13 weeks of financial assistance instead of allowing them to perform their regular work duties,’ McBain explained.
“If you qualify, you will receive the highest possible equivalent rate of either the JobSeeker Payment or Youth Allowance, based on your individual situation,” stated Services Australia.
The timing of the disbursements remains uncertain, however, once they become accessible, affected individuals can submit their applications accordingly.

Customers have the option to click on ‘Initiate a Claim’ and proceed according to the directions provided.
Alternately, assistance can be obtained through a phone call using the contact numbers provided on the Centrelink website.
Individuals with Centrelink debts may also be eligible to request a suspension of payments for up to three months.
More rain expected
Heavy rainfall followed by severe flash floods in New South Wales’ Mid North Coast region has led to more than 1,000 emergencies handled by the State Emergency Service (SES) and left numerous residences isolated.
The flooding became fatal after a 63-year-old man, whose identity has not been confirmed by law enforcement, was discovered in his flood-damaged residence close to Cooperneck around 3 PM on Wednesday.
The father’s bereaved daughter shared with Daily Mail Australia that her dad had dispatched rescuers to ensure their safety before being discovered deceased at their remote property mere hours later.
An image showing a submerged street close to Settlement Point Road in Port Macquarie has highlighted the severity of the increasing floodwaters, as approximately 50,000 individuals were cautioned about potential isolation by Thursday.
Extended periods of intense rain will persist all day Thursday, with Kempsey and Coffs Harbour being some of the areas under heightened watch for sudden floods.
Precipitation amounts ranging from 200 to 300 millimeters are expected within the coming 24 hours, which could result in potential flash floods affecting the North Coast areas including Coffs Harbour, Port Macquarie, Taree, Woolgoolga, Sawtell, and Dorrigo.
The flooding has now reached the Northern Rivers and Northern Tablelands regions as a sluggish trough continues to pour rain across Australia’s eastern coastline.
