Wisconsin’s Unemployment Claims Drop Sharply Last Week

Last week, initial claims for unemployment benefits in Wisconsin decreased when compared to the previous week, according to data released by the U.S. Department of Labor on Thursday.

Initial unemployment filings, which serve as an indicator of firings, dropped to 2,808 for the week ending May 10, down from 3,141 the previous week, according to the Labor Department report.

The biggest rise in weekly filings was observed in Massachusetts, where claims surged by 82.3 percent. Conversely, New Hampshire experienced the most significant decline in initial claims, with a decrease of 59.2 percent.
